Additional Info: With the ‘Impreza’ name now being dropped and based on the WRX, the STi went through extensive testing at the Nurburgring to create a road and track car for performance car enthusiasts. The AWD system employs the latest vehicle dynamics control (VDC) and Active Torque Vectoring for maximum control and driver engagement. The whole car has been put through an improvement process, increasing driver visibility, improving the interior quality, better rear leg room and much more. The STi also gets a Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD), a large rear wing, rear diffuser, twin mufflers, 18″ alloys, uprated Brembo vented brakes, dual-zone climate control and LED lighting. The base WRX (non STi) has a 268hp/258lbft 2.0 flat four engine and gets to 60 in around 5.5 seconds and is every bit a very capable car also. The 2014 WRX STi set a new four-wheeled Isle of Man TT circuit lap record of 19:26. 2018 WRX and WRX STI with numerous changes, see here. Also in 2018 a WRX STI Type RA was added, see here. |
