Additional Info: The prototype was introduced in 1976 and it’s production was between 1981-82 in Ireland. The majority however where LHD for the American market. Stainless steel body. Very much underpowered. An upgrade using a turbo is available for manual cars, giving 260bhp/270lbft and gets the Delorean to 60 in 6 seconds, the upgrade also gets you an uprated clutch, sports brake pads, with the option to add a 4 pot, vented big brake system. Made famous of course by the “Back to the future” films. The DeLorean is back in our future with a 2011/12 prototype electric version. This electric DeLorean in it’s prototype form has a liquid cooled motor producing 260hp/360lbft and a claimed 0-60 of just 4.9 secs. |
