Additional Info: Other engines at around this time were a 90hp 2.5, a 112hp 2.8 V6 and a crossfire injection 5.0 V8 with 165hp. The 3rd gen Camaro is now much lighter with a sleeker body and more modern lines (for the time) and now has a opening rear hatchback. Also has much improved suspension and transmissions. The Camaro in 1982 won Motor Trend’s “Car of the Year”. |

Additional Info: Same engines as previous were also available. IROC stands for International Race Of Champions. The IROC added improved suspension, larger wheels and tyres, deeper front spoiler and side sills and a decal package. Again Car and Driver put the IROC in their list of the best ten cars for 1985. |

Additional Info: I believe the line-up from 1987-1992 now consisted of a 135bhp 2.8 V6 (1987-1990), a 140bhp 3.1 V6 (1990-1992) a 165-170bhp 5.0 TBI V8 RS (1988-1992), a 195-230bhp 5.0 TPI V8 (1987-1992), a 225-230bhp 5.7 TPI V8 (240bhp 1990, 245bhp 1991-1992). A limted number of special cars from 1988 called the 1LE were built that had various options deleted and numerous performance options added making this a lighter car, generally better handling, stopping and faster car (60mph came up in low 6’s with 1/4 miles of around 14.8 secs). Also in 1987 a convertible was added. 1990 was the last year for the IROC. |

Additional Info: 1991 see’s a facelift with additional air ducts built into the front spoiler and side sills and for those that ordered it on the Z28, non-functional hood blisters and a high rise rear spoiler. The police/US government were also given the B4C code for their cars. A Heritage Package was offered as an optional extra for the 25th Anniversary Camaro in 1992, it consisted of hood and boot stripes, body colour grill, black headlamp pockets and a boot badge. |
