Additional Info: Used the 1.8VVC engine until 2009. An earlier version was created between 2002-2005 which was rated at around 160bhp, 0-60 in 4.9. The 140bhp version gets to 60 in 5.3 and tops out at 122mph. A 1.8 200bhp SV version gets to 60 in 4 secs and tops out at 138mph. Incidently a 200bhp 2.3 Cosworth Roadsport is available with much more torque and gets to 60 in around 3.6 secs. Of course with any Caterham there are many upgrades and even more engine options for the Roadsport have been created. A switch to a 2.0 Ford Duratec engine in 2009 see’s 175bhp and 0-60 in 4.8 and a top speed of 138mph. |
