Additional Info:
1970-1974 Mk4. New rear end design, front end clean up, flared arches, new bonnet and recessed door handles. The interior now has a full length dash. A heavier car combined with a taller final drive gave a car with much less performance than it's predecessor. (some controversy over the measureing of the power output seems to exist - 63bhp vs 75bhp?). An improved suspension however made for better handling.

Additional Info:
1974-1980 Spitfire 1500. The 1493cc engine was I believe actually fitted to US cars in late 1973 and didn't get fitted to European cars until 1975. US version only rated at 57bhp (due to emission regulations), 0-60 in 14-15 secs. Many minor changes throughout this models life were carried out.
