G-Class Inferno: An infernal guest at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show
The first European trade fair highlight of the season is just around the corner! Now in its 89th year, the 2019 Geneva Motor Show opens its doors to the press on March 5. The Swiss trade fair runs until March 17 and will once more be attended by the customization specialists from TopCar Design, who can be found at Stand 5043 in Hall 4. And their interpretation of the Mercedes G-Class, completely renewed for 2018, will be on show for the first time when it premieres there. As usual with TopCar customizations based on Mercedes, this unique all-wheel drive vehicle has the infernal nickname: Inferno. Although an AMG G 63 delivers the foundation for this devilish show car, the body kit fitted is also basically suitable for every other version of the angular all-wheeldrive vehicle.

Virtually all the components of this extremely extensive kit are made of carbon, which is highly visible thanks to most of them being given only a clear varnish coating. This is true of the A-shaped insert, the air intake frames fitted with LED lights and the spoiler lip on the front apron, for example. Just like the hood (not included in the kit), the headlight frames and the rear apron, the latter is also completely new but painted in the striking dark green vehicle color. On the other hand, the rear bumper comes with visible carbon elements, too: Frame for the inferred air outlets and a diffuser insert. Numerous carbon elements – notably fender extensions, attachments for the front side panels, bumper strips, side skirts and an attachment for the D-pillar – also enhance the side line. The kit also comes with carbon mirror caps (not fitted on the specimen pictured). An attachment for the spare wheel cover bearing TopCar’s shark logo, a rear spoiler and other attachments for the roof – two lateral and one above the windscreen with two LED lights – round off the Inferno kit.

TopCar complements the look further with a new wheel set. The show car even features two different designs from our company at once! While the G 63 has the Shark wheels on the driver’s side, Inferno rims are mounted on the other – both models are forged, 10×22 inches in size and fitted with 295/40 R22 tires. They are optionally available in 21 or even 23 inches. The perfect alignment of the wheel/tire combination under the fenders is supported by 20 mm- and 25 mm-thick wheel spacers at the front and back respectively.

With top-stitching and piping on the black equipment kept in dark green, for example, a glance into the interior shows that it has been given an enhancement that once more draws on the color of the bodywork. What is more, the leather on large areas of the seating is elaborately braided, giving it a carbon look. Last but not least, TopCar offers extensive engine upgrades for the G-Class in cooperation with its partner, GoshaTurboTech. This involves the use of optimized software, modified turbochargers, a CNC-machined crankshaft with forged connecting rods and pistons, high-performance cooling systems, as well as other upgrades and modifications, for example. The outcome is a gain in the G 63’s torque of up to 1,050 Nm. In view of the above, the gearbox was also given an upgrade.
