MANHART Performance has yet again laid hands on an AMG vehicle. After the reveal of the CR 700 a couple of years ago MANHART have now started their second big AMG project. This time it’s based on a GLC 63 S Coupé, the compact SUV from Affalterbach. With a power output of 510 hp and 700 Nm the GLC 63 S is a serious piece of kit already. „Of course the GLC 63S is a fast car fresh out of the factory, but we just wanted to know what‘s possible.“ (C. Erfurt, CEO MANHART Performance).

It needs more power! That was the very first step on MANHART’s agenda. As the name suggests, 700 hp is what one can expect from the GLR 700. To make that power output possible the GLR was fitted with new turbos, a new air intake as well as an intercooler upgrade and a new fuel injection system. Regarding hardware the GLR 700 seems pretty impressive and well equipped to be boosted up to 700 hp. A MANHART software remapping provides the last step to 700 hp. But the GLR 700 didn‘t only gain power through the MANHART treatment, it also feels considerably stronger off the line due to it’s enourmes increase in torque. 908 newton meters at the drivers‘ disposal is what passengers need to endure once the car has its kick down in sport+ mode. All that power is managed by a 9speed Speedshift automatic transmission with MANHART upgrade.

According to MANHART the GLR 700 manages to sprint from 100 km/h to 200 km/h in just 7.8 seconds making it about 2 seconds faster than the standard GLC 63 S. „I think you can even run a sub 7.5 seconds time with only one person inside and good test conditions.“ (C. Erfurt).
One can not only feel but clearly hear that the GLR 700 isn’t at all like a standard GLC 63 S. The GLR 700 willingly announces its strength due to a stainless steel exhaust system by MANHART. For export vehicles customers can also order a set of catless downpipes which again increase the sound to yet another level.

Once a car is equipped with such an amount of power you better make sure it’s no letdown when it comes to the visual side of things. Keeping that in mind, the guys at MANHART also worked on the exterior of the GLR 700. 21“ MANHART Concave One wheels in Silk-Matte black fit right into the martial appearance of the monster Mercedes. Yellow accents around the car turn the GLR 700 into a real eye catcher while all chrome elements were blacked out to make sure the car maintains its stealth look.

MANHART offers the GLR package in three different stages depending on the amount of power the customers desire and of course depending on the price.

The GLR 700 guarantees driving pleasure and despite the rather catchy looks is still a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Whether customers will ever experience its full offroad capabilities is questionable but the GLR 700 for sure is the perfect vehicle to frighten Porsche 911, AMG C 63 and M4 owners on the Autobahn.
