750 hp Camaro in perfect harmony

For presentation and development purposes, the Chevrolet Camaro 6.2 V8 SS shown here was built with technical and aesthetic upgrades by the performance specialists at GME / German Motors & Engineering in Schkeuditz, Saxony. The project car is intended to demonstrate not only how much raw power the pony car’s 6.2-liter V8 engine can deliver, but also and in particular how perfectly a series vehicle and performance parts can work together – when properly coordinated and developed within an overall concept.

The GME Camaro was built almost exclusively using the company’s own components instead of using parts from different manufacturers that are not 100% compatible with one another, resulting in a perfect harmony. GME sees its edition vehicles as a sporty special version of the relevant series car – with breath-taking power potential while also being ideal for daily use.

Edelbrock power: 750 hp / 860 Nm

Speaking of power potential: The GME engineers installed a compressor system from the portfolio of their renowned cooperation partners Edelbrock on the brand new 6.2-liter V8 with a forged engine block. The compressor system compresses the air sucked in by the K&N filter prior to the combustion process. At the outlet end, a twin-flute, stainless steel 76mm valve exhaust system by GME follows on from 3inch downpipes with sports catalytic converters. The exhaust system valves can be controlled via the on-board electronics of the vehicle. GME guarantees that the system operates without reflux both when the valves are open and when they are closed. After a final adaptation and optimization of the engine software for the comprehensive performance hardware orchestra, the data sheet now shows solid 750 hp and an 860 Nm maximum torque, propelling the pony car into the super sports car league.

Two-part forged rims

The engine power is transmitted to the drive shafts via an 8-gear automatic transmission. The black Camaro stands on two-part GME forged rims with CNCmilled centers, which were specially designed for the Camaro and visually inspired by its snappy appearance. On the steering axle, the rims with black centers and brushed rim wells coated in clear varnish measure 9.5×20” and come with 265/35ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, whereas on the drive axle, they measure 11×20” and come with 305/30 Michelin rubbers.

In-house, high-performance brake systems

Another core competency of the company GME-Performance is their sturdy braking systems. The tuners equipped the Camaro with powerful monoblock fixed calipers, slitted disks and steel-flex brake lines. On the front axle, 8-piston calipers sandwich floatingly mounted 400x36mm disks, whereas at the rear 4-piston calipers act on 356x32mm disks. Here you will also find an internal handbrake drum. Aesthetically, too, the GME Camaro fulfills its performance ambitions: The GME aerodynamic package includes a front spoiler lip that blends harmoniously with the car design, rocker panels and a three-part rear wing. Those familiar with the Camaro will also notice the coarser grille inserts, which optimize the airflow to the coolers. Finally, the crouched look is achieved by GME’s 30mm lowering springs, whose characteristic curve was specially adapted to the Camaro chassis and which combine even sportier curve dynamics with maximum suspension comfort.

Project car for sale

By the way: The totally novel project car is now for sale – with only 1,000 km on the clock! Of course, being built in 2018, the car corresponds to the latest model and has only been driven for test and adjustment runs. In the current configuration, the list price is €107,000, but GME is offering it at the substantially lower price of €89,900.
