Ford’s most powerful Mustang – the Mustang Shelby GT500 now available

The Shelby label is one of the most iconic when it comes to US-American muscle cars and which still thrills fans today. The original Mustang Shelby GT500 in particular, which was built in 1967 in cooperation with Carroll Shelby, is still unforgotten today. Since then, over the decades, Mustang top models have repeatedly been allowed to adorn themselves with the Shelby nameplate. This also includes the latest super-Mustang, which made its debut in early 2019. Unlike its less powerful brothers, the current Shelby GT500 is not officially available in Europe. But of course the team from PEICHER US-Cars spares no expense and effort to get some cars to us nevertheless. And finally the time has come – the first models are now available.

The customers get an absolute top sportster of a muscle car. The Mustang Shelby GT500 is propelled by an extremely powerful 5.2-liter V8 engine which, thanks to supercharging by means of a 2.65-liter supercharger, delivers 771 hp and a maximum torque of 847 Nm to the crankshaft. This places the coupe at the very pinnacle of the competitive field, meaning that it only has to bow to the Dodge Challenger versions Demon and Hellcat Redeye. A quick-shifting sevenspeed dual clutch transmission, a carbon cardan shaft and a rear-axle limited slip differential are available to effectively transfer power to the road. This means that it takes only 3.5 seconds to rip to 100 km/h, the top speed is (limited) 290 km/h. Other highlights include the Brembo brake system with six-piston calipers on 420mm disks at the front, the MagneRide suspension and the Line-Lock function for easy warming up of the rear wheels when stationary.

Visually, the GT500 is immediately recognizable as the head of its class – thanks to an extremely burly design with, among other things, its huge air intake at the front, the power dome hood, fender flares and a rear spoiler. This is further accentuated by a GT4 rear wing, a modified diffuser, a larger front splitter and 20-inch carbon rims with semi-slick tires – if the customer has chosen the optional Carbon Fiber Track pack. The vehicle shown in the pictures does not feature this pack, but PEICHER US-Cars also offers models that do.

The interior also features high-quality, GT500-specific equipment, including Recaro sports seats, a 12-inch display behind the steering wheel to show the digital gauges, aluminum or carbon fiber inlays and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. If the Carbon Fiber Track pack is on board, there is no back seat. Prices for the GT500 start at €109,990 or €154,990 for models with the Carbon Fiber Track pack.
