Renault In Pole Position At Kidzania London

  • KidZania London teams up with Renault to provide exciting real-life Zero Emission engineering and racing experience for kids
  • Opening in 2015 at Westfield London, KidZania is the UK’s first educational entertainment experience where kids can learn real-life skills in a fun and safe environment

Renault today confirmed its partnership with KidZania London, the UK’s first educational entertainment experience opening in early 2015, with the unveiling of a true-to-life replica e.dams-Renault Formula E racing car, built at 3/4-scale specifically for the KidZania London Pit Lane Experience.

Built by a team of 10 experts, over five months, the scale model e.dams-Renault Formula E racing car will be pivotal to the Pit Lane Experience, immersing kids in the thrilling Renaultsport world of racing, educating them on the power of zero-emissions and giving an insight into the future of sustainable racing technology.

During the experience kids will work together as a Renaultsport pit lane team, racing against the clock as they would at the trackside, where a hundredth of a second could be the difference between winning and losing.

All teams’ quickest times will then be included in a leader board, accessible via the KidZania London website, and the fastest time of the season will have the opportunity to win a prize.

The scale model e.dams-Renault Formula E racing car required 200 hours of CAD engineering design using 5-axis technology to cut the bodywork.  The car includes every last detail of the real racing car including the charging point, aerial and LED brake light.  The wheel and tyre assembly was the most challenging component to make, taking 200 hours of research and development to achieve authentic but lightweight and safe units for them kids to handle.  Bespoke wheel hub assemblies, wheel wrenches and sound effects were created to complete the experience and make the team activity as lifelike as possible.

In addition to the exciting team activity, kids will also experience the Z.E. (Zero Emission) Engineering Centre where Renault’s knowledge and leadership in the world of zero-emission sustainable mobility will educate kids. Using the latest interactive display technology, kids will be able to remove, analyse and reassemble individual components to compare their attributes, all through a futuristic touchscreen interface. This innovative solution enables the kids to understand the technologies and benefits of the all-electric Renault ZOE and petrol-engined Renault Clio.

As well as the Pit Lane Challenge and Z.E. Engineering Centre, Renault will also be supplying all the vehicles guests will see in KidZania such as the Ambulance, Fire Engine & City Tour Bus.

Ken Ramirez, Managing Director, Renault UK, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with KidZania in the UK.  It is a unique chance to educate kids on the benefits of sustainable mobility in a fun interactive team-building environment.”

Joel Cadbury, Chairman, KidZania London, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Renault to KidZania London to implement a truly unique and fun experience for children. We hope the Renault Experience will ignite the minds and imaginations of the children visiting KidZania London, as they go behind the racing track. It’s an incredibly exciting time for KidZania London with many more high profile partners due to be announced soon.”

Having welcomed over 38 million visitors worldwide, KidZania is a global phenomenon and one of the world’s fastest growing educational entertainment brands, with 16 locations in 13 countries. Inside the 75,000sq ft. child-size city, kids will find the streets lined with over 60 real-world establishments, including a Bank, Hospital,  Police Station, Fire Station, Airline, and Theatre, each offering real-life role play adventures in a fun and safe environment.
