- Porsche 911 Carrera also awarded ‘Best Buy’ Sports Car in £50,000 – £100,000 category
The Porsche Boxster has been named ‘Best Sports Car’ at the annual What Car? Car of the Year Awards held in London last night. Since its launch in 2012, the latest generation of the mid-engined, two-seater has built on the model’s reputation as the benchmark roadster and this latest accolade is a further endorsement of this status.
Chas Hallett, Editor-in-Chief of What Car?, commented: “’The Boxster’s good looks, sublime handling and staggering value for money mean it’s a sports car you can buy with your heart and head.’
The magazine’s judging panel concluded: “In reality, its sheer desirability stems from more than just performance. Buying a Boxster also gets you a superb product constructed from high quality materials, with a stylish interior. Best of all, the next owner will want one as much as you do.”
Underlining the position of Porsche as the definitive sports car brand, the iconic 911 was also recognised as the ‘Best Buy’ Sports Car in the £50,000 – £100,000 category. The judges commented that the 911 “is a seriously quick car” and yet is “just as compelling in terms of how easy it is to live with. This is a supercar you can use every day, with a cabin that is well made, comfortable and quiet, It even makes good financial sense, with respectable fuel economy.”
