Brief History About Wiesmann
Wiesmann was founded in 1988 in Germany by Martin Wiesmann and Friedhelm Wiesmann. Originally just concentrating on making hardtops for various cars, they then decided to produce their own cars.
The sports cars they built were designed with a retro classic look and were well received and used many BMW components. These cars started development in the mid 80’s before being shown at the 1988 Essen Motor Show, with production starting in 1993.
However despite building great cars, employing over 100 staff and having a state of the art factory, financial problems (probably caused by spending too much on the factory at the wrong time) then lead to the company becoming liquidated in May 2014.
Weismann to make a return in 2020 with a car.
