Respected exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport has released details of its hand-finished stainless steel exhaust system for BMW’s popular F32 428 model. Milltek has taken many weeks and months of focussed R&D time to perfect a system that balances looks, power and a sublime soundtrack in an attractive package. In addition, differing packages are available for both manual and auto cars with and without towbar set-ups.
Those venturing out onto track can opt for the fully de-catted system, complete with its large-bore downpipe. This offers the largest power gains (and clearly the most motorsport-inspired soundtrack!) If preferred, this system can also be ordered with a high-flow sports cat to balance road/race legality with excellent power gains. In both cases, system pipework is an impressive 3.00″ (76.20mm) in diameter.
A cat-back system is also available, which upgrades the rear of the car to include a dual exit GT90 trim set. This 435i-style dual-outlet can be ordered either resonated or non-resonated and requires the 435i M Sport rear valance from a BMW dealer to fit. The result is a very factory looking upgrade with a superb increase in note and power! Tailpipe trims can be ordered as either moody Cerakote black or a more traditional polished.
Those looking for a more ‘OEM+’ look – and who wish to keep the original 4278 valance can also select the twin outlet cat-back style, complete with its stylish GT76 trims, again in either Cerakote or polished.
In all cases each system improves drivability and engine performance, while adding a crisp bark to the exhaust note. Milltek exhausts are famed for their sophisticated tone which doesn’t induce drone or resonance at speed, but instead majors on dynamic improvements that really enhance the driving experience.
