Mechanics Tools
We've decided to put all the other mechanics tools (and other bits) into one section and again there are many more useful tools that a diy mechanic can use. Here we've included just a few bits and pieces that have been useful and that we have just lying around our garage.
Technical Books
Apart from the internet, technical books are extremely handy, especially if you have a step by step one make/model manual.
Mechanics Overalls
Look the part and stay clean.
Rags
Old clothes and a rag roll, it's a dirty hobby.
Car Creeper
Handy for when you have to work under or even at the side of the car.
Tyre Pressure Gauge
Small tool that can be kept in the car if you like.
Foot pump
Some tyres just never seem to stay inflated!
Rubber Mat
An old car mat (or new, they're cheap) is ideal for your work bench. Not only for grip, but for padding while you hammer away.
Vice
A good bench vice is always handy
Bench Grinder
If you fancy a little fabricating etc, why not get a bench grinder.
Wing Protector
If it's your pride and joy your working on, use a wing protector to protect "err" the wing. Placed over the wing, it has a magnetic strip along one edge that holds it in place.
Jug And Funnel
Don't get those fluids all over your engine.
Inspection Lamp And Torch
It's not always easy to see whats what under the bonnet and car. With winter months extending to most of the year lately, it gets dark too damn early!
Car Odds and Sods
Spare screws, nuts, bolts, washers, fasteners, connectors and cable ties. nothing worse than being in a middle of a job and finding you don't have something (try to plan ahead, but there will always be an unexpected something).
Useful Car Sprays, cans, oils, paint, liquids etc
Again you never know what you may need.
Swarfega
The good old hand cleaner.
