Litchfield, Europe’s most respected GT-R tuner, has released details of its latest ‘must have’ enhancement for all discerning R35 owners. The Litchfield Handling kit will benefit Nissan GT-Rs of all years, on both road and track. Once installed, and allied to Litchfield’s own carefully honed alignment settings, the kit will transform the chassis performance and enjoyment of the recipient car.
Improved grip, greater steering feel, more positive turn-in and reduced tyre wear are just some of the benefits the Handling Kit will provide, and once you learn that the kit was developed with WTCC champion Rob Huff, over literally thousands of road and track miles, then you’ll begin to realise quite how much work has gone into this set of components.
Litchfield has already enjoyed great success improving the performance of the R35 GT-R chassis with its range of CNC suspension arms. The extensive range of adjustability with that kit has allowed the firm to exhaust literally every setting physically possible on the R35 platform, enabling Litchfield’s R&D team to create an improved geometry set-up that then provides the dynamics needed. The new Litchfield Handling Kit combines the very best of this geometry development without the associated high cost of the motorsport-derived parts.
With prototype components, proven on the firm’s own GT-R development cars over many miles of testing, Litchfield approached its long-term technical partner, Powerflex, in order to produce the production versions of this unique set-up. The new Handling kit changes the position of the upper suspension arm bushes, lower suspension arm bushes and replacement CNC mounts.
The replacement CNC mounts also introduce an ‘Anti-Lift’ effect to help maintain a more consistent control under acceleration and load. The new rear mount and bush also address the increasingly common problem of cracked front arm assemblies, ultimately requiring an expensive replacement of over £690 + VAT per side, when replacing once again with the flawed OEM parts!
The Handling Kit allows for a greater tyre contact area which, in turn, provides greater feedback information back to the driver, improves traction and offers greater stability. The increased caster angle produces more weight and detail to the steering which is vital to driver confidence. An R35 GT-R thus equipped will enter a corner with more urgency, significantly improved front grip and reduced understeer.
The Handling Kit is £895 for both sides including VAT and fitting, as well as a full alignment to Mr. Huff’s own prescribed settings!
