This year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, held from November 14th to 16th at Birmingham’s NEC, has chosen ‘The Big Screen’ as its clubs theme for 2014.
As well as iconic TV and movie star cars, including those scene stealers from the TV motoring shows, the organisers are encouraging the clubs to go much broader than that with famous posters, billboards and adverts of cars launched in huge billboard or ‘big screen’ campaigns.
So clubs could perhaps recreate a famous film poster with a club stand, or maybe give over the entire stand to a TV show or advert that featured its chosen car – there’s huge scope for clubs to really get creative. The theme is open to interpretation, perhaps displaying a car that boasts a ‘big screen’ price or even just car with an extra-large windscreen! Whatever it may be, all ideas are welcome.
Event Director Dan Nwaokolo said: “We’re really excited by the theme for this year’s show. There are so many great instances where motoring has appeared on the big screen, be it TV, film, and in adverts. The possibilities are endless and we can’t wait to see how the clubs interpret this year’s theme.
“There’s also an influx of classic motoring TV shows at present, with more to come, so it will be great for enthusiasts to get to see those cars restored on the small screen at close proximity, if only to reassure them of the quality of the work carried out. The chance to inspect these cars and talk to the stars of the shows will be fantastic for our visitors.”
