Additional Info: As well as the 2.3 Mercedes engine above, I believe the 2.5 engine was also used along with these: a 1781cc VW engine with 136bhp 0-60 in 7.4 secs and from 1987 a 2962cc Mercedes engine with 185bhp/192lbft (cat) 177bhp/187lbft (non cat) which gets to 60 in under 6 secs. 1991-1992 the engine power was increased to 228bhp.
