| Additional Info: There are many options and the model spans 5 generations from 1959-1987. There is also a lack of detail about these vehicles. 1964 had 283cu V8's with 196-220hp and a 327cu with 250hp. 1965 also gets a 327cu with 300hp and a 327cu with 350hp. 1966-67 gets a 396cu with 325hp and a 396cu with 350hp. 1968-1969 also gets a 396cu but now with 375hp. 1970 see's 454's with 360hp and the 450hp above. 1971 gets 350's with 245-270hp, a 396cu with 300hp and the 454cu now only with 365hp. 1972 drops to net hp with 350's having 165-175bhp, the 396cu with 240bhp and the 454cu rated at 270bhp. 1973's 350's have 145bhp-175bhp and a 454cu with 245bhp. 1975 was the last year for the 454cu with 215 net bhp. The most powerful engine available with the 5th gen El Camino was I believe the 170bhp 350cu, until the return of the El Camino SS (1984-1987) with a 190bhp 305cu engine. The SS was also available with the Monte Carlo front end.
