Donington-ParkAbout Donington Park
Donington Park Racing Ltd is the racetrack’s operating company, a member of the Wheatcroft Group.

The Park opened as the first permanent park circuit in England in 1931 and was mainly used for motorcycle racing at first and car racing followed in 1933, with the first Donington Grand Prix being held in 1935. In 1939 due to WW2 the park was then used as a military vehicles depot.

However after the war the circuit wasn’t used as a racing circuit again, until it was bought by Tom Wheatcroft in the 70’s and re-opened to mainly MotoGP racing 1977. The facilities also includes the Donington Grand Prix Exhibition Centre which opened in 1973 and houses the largest collection of Grand Prix cars in the world.

Over the years various motor racing events have taken place at the track and included the 1993 European Grand Prix, 1000 km endurance race for the Le Mans Series in 2006, the British Motocross Grand Prix in 2007 and the Motocross des Nations in 2008, as well as MotoGP again from 1987-2009. In 2010 the track was brought up to ACU, MSA and FIA Grade 2 licence standards.

Currently the track hosts several motorsport events including BTCC, WTCC, British F3, British Superbike Championship, SBK, Superleague Formula, Pickup Truck Racing and will once again in 2015 host MotoGP. It will also be home to the FIA Formula E world series.
