| Additional Info: Mangusta is Italian for Mongoose. Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro and shown at the 1966 Turin Motor Show. A few special models were built early on, including a Spyder and a 327 Chevy powered example for GM's Vice President Bill Mitchell (although he could not fit into the car!). A total of around 400 were built, of which approximately 120 were 289cu Ford V8's for the European market (above) and around 280 were 302cu Ford V8's for the US market (below). A handling issue due to a near 70/30 weight dsitribution towards the rear was a very big negative never overcome. |
