Castle Combe Performance Car Action Days posted on 22 July 2011
There are just 50 days to go until the Forge Motorsport Summer Performance Car Action Day at Castle Combe Circuit, on Saturday September 10th. And it’s all geared up to be a massive packed paddock and track action event – with almost 1,000 performance cars already booked in from over 60 car clubs and a raft of new big name sponsors signed up.
The largest car club booking to date is from Briskoda, with over 60 high performance Skodas confirmed. The Mercedes Owners Club will be there in force, to celebrate their 125th year. And there will be a huge display of Subarus, for a second Castle Combe “Subaru Saturday” event run along with the Forge Motorsport Action Day. The range, quality and quantity of performance cars on display in the historic Castle Combe paddock and out on the high-speed, testing 1.85-mile classic circuit will take some beating.
And now, main event sponsors, Forge Motorsport, have been joined by more top names – including Tarox brakes, Pipercross air filters, Eibach Suspension and Scorpion exhausts, who will be bringing their performance car products to display in the paddock and demo cars to demonstrate their wares on the Wiltshire circuit.
Nicholas Counsell, General Manager for Tarox UK commented: “We are delighted to be attending the Forge Action Day at Castle Combe. Not only is the fast track the perfect place for us to demonstrate the efficiency of our products, but we will also have braking specialists on hand to advise on set-up and fitment. We’ll also have our own demo Golf GTI doing high-speed display laps, so if you fancy buckling up for a more ‘hands-on’ demonstration, please come and join us!”
Pipercross General Manager, James Pearman said: “We are very pleased to be invited and attending the Forge Action Day. Pipercross will be there with our fully wrapped show van, loaded with popular stock for the performance car market. And we will be releasing our brand new MK6 VW GTI intake kit, fitted to our Demonstrator VW Golf GTI MK6, which we hope to get some track action in also. Myself and Adam Hughes (R&D and Production Manager) will be in attendance, along with out UK motorsport and sales executive, Luke Tibble – displaying our full range of Pipercross replacement filters, intakes and accessories and there to talk directly about our products to customers.”
Greg Kirkby, General Manager of Eibach said: “Eibach are delighted to be part of the Forge Motorsport Summer Performance Car Action Day. We will be there to support the event, talk to the public about our ever-expanding product range and maybe take advantage of the open track (time permitting!). We will be giving the public a chance to experience the weight benefits of our latest hollow Anti-Roll Bar (ARB) technology, by allowing them to get their hands on one of our new ARBs and comparing it to an ARB from one of our leading competitors – a chance to feel the difference first hand. This is another example of where technology developed in the motorsport and high performance OE side of our business has been transferred to the performance car aftermarket. We are surely the only company in the industry that can say both that we make our Pro-Kit & Sportline performance road springs with the same material as we make our F1 and WRC springs; and that the same hollow ARB material and technology supplied to McLaren, Ferrari, Maserati, Lotus etc. is also used on our performance road ARB kits. We hope the day is a success for all attending and are looking forward to it enormously.”
Martin Lomas, of Scorpion exhausts said: “As the UK’s leading performance exhaust manufacturer, we feel that supporting other industry leaders is paramount – which is why we are delighted to be associated with Forge Motorsport’s Performance Car Action Day at Castle Combe. Attending events like this enables Scorpion to showcase our full titanium and stainless steel performance exhausts to customers, as well as our extensive involvement in motorsport. Our 2011 motorsport sponsorship includes BTCC championship leaders Team Dynamics Honda, Independent team championship leaders Airwaves Ford & Special Tuning Seat Leons, as well as the 2011 Time Attack 2WD & 4WD championship leaders – many of whom will be with us at the show, to demonstrate our products in a perfect environment, at Castle Combe.”
Main event partners, Forge Motorsport (www.forgemotorsport.co.uk) will be showcasing a massive range of their tuning products – including intercoolers, alloy tanks, blow off valves and much more to the 1000’s of performance car, drift and track day fans attending the Summer Action Day in early September. And Forge will also be demonstrating and displaying some of their highly-modified race and sprint cars – including Bo Neilson’s Astra VXR (2010 Time Attack Champion), Steve Chaplin’s VW RSI Beetle, aka ‘Herbie’ (2010 VW Racing Cup Champion) and Joe Fulbrook’s VW Racing Cup VW Bora 1.8T; showcasing many of their products in style in the bustling paddock, and on the speedy circuit.
Track time for the event is incredible value – costing just £30 a session (booked in advance, £35 on the day). And entry fees are similarly affordable, priced at just £8 in advance (plus 50p P&P/credit card charge) or £10 on the gate on the day. And under 16s go FREE, so it’s a fabulous family affair! There are also big discounts available for track time and admission for car club exhibitors.
Last year’s Summer Action Day saw an invasion of drift cars, slewing sideways around the circuit in a haze of tyre smoke. And they will be back in force this year, along with a huge gathering of Subarus, for a second Castle Combe “Subaru Saturday.” And, as well as the Japanese performance cars, there’s bound to be a big turn out from Castle Combe regulars, like the RS Owners Club, Vauxhall VXR’s, Caterhams, Audi RS’, BMW M-Power cars, Mazdas and pretty much every performance car imaginable, from Ariel Atoms to Z-Car Minis.
Castle Combe has been hosting Action Day events for over 25 years now, attracting tens of 1000’s of drivers, doing millions of high speed laps of the track and featuring 1000’s of car clubs. The unique events give petrol-heads the country over the chance to lap around this fabulous, flowing, fast circuit and enjoy seeing 1000’s of perfectly-presented performance, drift and track cars.
Chairman of the famous Castle Combe Action Days, Howard Strawford said: “We are very pleased indeed to have Forge Motorsport on-board for this year’s Summer Performance Car Action Day – and our new sponsors, Tarox, Pipercross, Eibach and Scorpion. They are all top tuning brands – well known and well respected in the track day, tuning, performance car and racing scenes, and we are sure their stands and demonstration cars will bring something special to this year’s event.
“We are very proud of the Action Days. For almost three decades now, we’ve been running these track-based shows to different car clubs and motoring enthusiasts, where you get a chance to have some high speed thrills on track, as well as share your common interest with 1000’s of people with similar passions in the historic paddock and see 1000’s of outstanding cars. They are a great day out for all the family, and offer great value for money for those who want to drive our fabulous circuit and enjoy a fun day out.”
