Car AbbreviationsEver wonder what all those car abbreviations mean? With all these new electronic gadgets added to modern cars nowadays, is it any wonder that vehicle adverts look like a script out of Star Trek! Automotive manufacturers seem to employ all sorts of devices and gizmos for our vehicles. We have driving aids for safety, handling, stability, traction control, braking, parking, in-car gadgets for climate control, cruise control, Satnav, electric this, electric that. Multiple engine types, such a VVTI, Vtec, TDI, SRI, HDI, the list goes on. And on top of all that, each manufacturer uses a different name for the same thing!
