BTCC issues provisional 2012 calender

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship has issued its provisional race dates for 2012.
Next season’s calendar will again include ten ‘rounds’, each featuring three races. The provisional dates are:

The date of the Donington Park event is yet to be announced, but will not impact the start or finish dates of the 2012 season. BTCC organiser TOCA expects to be in a position to announce that calendar date within the next three weeks.
2011 title race enters crucial stages
The chase for the 2011 BTCC crown continues at the world-famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent in a week and a half’s time (Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 October) with the penultimate three races of the season.
Honda Racing team-mates, Worcestershire’s Matt Neal and Fife’s Gordon Shedden, will arrive there tying for the championship lead in their Civics with factory Silverline Chevrolet Cruze rival Jason Plato, from Oxford, their nearest rival, 25 points adrift.

However, there is a possible maximum of 52 points available from Brands Hatch and a further 52 on offer in the season’s final three races at British Formula 1 Grand Prix venue Silverstone, Northants (Sat 15 & Sun 16 Oct). In fact the top seven in the standings can, mathematically, still become BTCC Champion in 2011 so it’s all to play for…
