Abarth And Yamaha Join Together For A Successful Union
The brand with the Scorpion logo stepped onto the highest place on the podium during the first FIM MotoGP World Championship race of the season in Qatar. Abarth, the byword for innovation and performance, will be Official Sponsor and Official Car Supplier of the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team again this year. The season kicked off with the launch of the new Abarth 124 spider: the first 2,500 units of the exclusive limited edition model made by the Officine Abarth can be purchased now from dealerships or online at www.abarth.com/124_spider

The 2016 racing season started with a win and the partnership between Abarth and Yamaha Factory Racing will be continuing again this year under the sign of victory. The first result was scored by Jorge Lorenzo, while his team mate Valentino Rossi put up a spectacular show during the opening race at the Losail International Circuit and came fourth.

Once again this year, the front fairing of the two YZR-M1 2016 bikes will be sporting the Scorpion logo, synonymous with racing and the symbol of a legacy of victories and passion which introduced one of the great phenomena of modern motor sports, as recently reasserted at the Geneva International Motor Show and Milano Autoclassica. At the shows in Switzerland and Milan, the brand attracted public attention thanks to the world première of the new Abarth 124 spider. The first 2,500 units of the exclusive, limited edition model made by the Officine Abarth can be ordered at a price of 40,000 Euro across Europe. The car will be available in dealerships starting from September. The new Abarth 124 spider can also be purchased with the FCA Bank solution by paying 300-Euro monthly instalments.

This is a fun, unconventional car, destined to become an icon of driving pleasure. Like every Abarth, the new 124 spider is designed for excitement and performance and has all the qualities to satisfy even the most demanding drivers: rear-wheel drive, sophisticated suspension and a 1.4 MultiAir 170 HP four-cylinder turbocharged engine under the bonnet, available with a six-speed manual or six-speed Sequenziale Sportivo automatic transmission with steering-wheel paddle shifters.

The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing special series springs from the partnership between Abarth and Yamaha. To make it real, the two brands have collaborated, developing the car the way a racing bike is usually developed. Designs focused on engine power (up from 140 HP to 160 HP), the BMC filter, the suspension and the shock absorbers (Koni front and rear shock absorbers with FSD valves and Eibach springs), 17” matt black alloy wheel rims and Record Monza exhaust.

Finally, since 1 March, the passion that reigns on the racetrack and on board each Abarth car can be found in “The Scorpionship,” the brand’s only official community dedicated to car owners, collectors, Abarth club members, and fans. Subscribing at the scorpionship.abarth.com website provides plenty of exciting advantages, promotions and racing opportunities as well as exclusive invites to meetings for fans.
